A bit more about alcoholism
I believe it is quite easy to define what an alcoholic is; an alcoholic is someone who drinks too much, too often, and whose drinking causes problems.
When an alcoholic stops drinking look at what is at stake for the alcoholic to stay sober:
His sanity;
his physical health;
his freedom;
his reputation;
his relationships;
his finances;
and having a good chance of leading a relatively stable, normal life with some dignity.
